Alexis has been involved in the performing arts—dancing, singing and acting—since the age of three. She opened with solo performances for The Commodores and Melissa Manchester at the age of seven.
Through the past two decades, her formal training includes studies at the Fern Adair Academy of Performing Arts and the Interlochen School of the Arts. She studied film production at the University of Tennessee, where she earned her degree; she has worked on independent films, which earned several awards at the Memphis Indie Film Festival and at the Sundance Film Festival. Upon graduation, she felt compelled to return to the stage, and began teaching dance and competing professionally.
Alexis earned her teaching certification through DVIDA, which offered her the formal, foundational training necessary to succeed in the ballroom world. She is a member of ProDVIDA and of the National Dance Council of America, as well.
Alexis is proficient in teaching over 20 styles of partnership dance. She has won titles in American Rhythm and is an American Smooth Champion.
Dancing and competing with her students in showcases and competitions, they take first placements and she often wins top teacher awards.
Whether wanting to learn to dance for a special event or wedding—perhaps salsa, a variety of club dances, or any of the ballroom dances— she can help you fulfill your dance dream.
Alexis loves to dance. It is one of her greatest passions, as is teaching. She believes dancing is a skilled art for expression and connection, one that everyone deserves to have the pleasure of experiencing. She teaches in a patient, yet firm style rippled with comedic relief. Often called a "drill-sergeant," Alexis will ensure you learn "the right way" the first time. She believes clean habits and confident dancers are created early. Sharing and helping others positively affect their lives through dance is one of her greatest joys.
